Just a note: in the spring, should you happen to find a young bird, such as this freshly fledged American Robin, let it be.  It does not need your help or assistance of any kind.  Bird parents have several young leave the nest simultaneously, but they know where their babies are.  They will return to feed/guide the young birds. The baby in this picture likely did not survive.
